Make a difference in the lives of children like Myriah today!
Help young boys and girls build confidence to tackle the future
Myriah lives with her younger brother and grandmother in a single wide trailer on a dusty road outside of Pamplico. There was a time in first grade when Myriah felt so low that she says, “I felt like I was about to die because I was crying so much, and girls just kept calling me a roach.”
Thanks to generous donors and supporters, Myriah’s life and the lives of young people just like her have improved. They
- Learn to manage emotions, set goals, and make responsible decisions,
- Find companionship with peers and caring adult professionals
- Build a sense of usefulness, belonging, and influence, and
- Know that someone cares about them.
These boys and girls show measurable change in their confidence, ambition, behavior, and academic performance after regularly attending Boys & Girls Clubs. They go on to become productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
At the Club, Myriah found that supportive environment where she could learn to stand up for herself and build her confidence. Now in fifth grade, she loves learning new things, and she’s not afraid anymore. In fact, Myriah is now a role model for the younger kids and takes that responsibility seriously. She knows what it’s like to feel down, so she’s dedicated to helping others feel stronger, just as she has.
Myriah’s story is a wonderful example of how a supportive community can help young people grow and thrive. That’s why I’m asking you to consider supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area – with a gift today.
Just this year, generous donors have made it possible for more than 3,000 boys and girls to have a safe place to learn and grow, to overcome obstacles, and to find hope and encouragement from caring professionals – all while having fun.
We’re going to keep doing good and are grateful that you’ve joined us on this journey.
